Date: Mon, 30 Aug 2004 11:51:23 -0600 From: Karla Schulz Subject: Carrots and Celery Snap Shots from the road series Part One Okay, so for those of you who looked at the title of this bit and were confused I say, relax. Enjoy the ride. For thus begins the journey to Calgary. Sit back. Open your ears to the imaginary music playing in the background. Let your eyes see the endless flat of the prairies. You can also do none of that, and just read the story. All the snapshots are (hence the name) short snatches of time, but I will be posting them quite rapidly (this is my vow) so don't feel too ripped by the length. Thanks to everyone who sent me mail, especially Jim (I hope that's really you in the picture, cause you're a total pimp), Tom (cause I do always feel warm and glowly after your e-mails) and Morgan (because I love it when people randomly share stuff about their lives with me and also beacause I found it delightfully absurd how you ordered me to watch Love Actually, which by the way I have, and I do love it, I must admit). But that's just to name a few, I love ALL you guys. I should write back to all of you to tell you how much, but I suck. Take notice of how my stupid ramblings are like, just as long as the post. Yeesh. --- "Alright people, we've got 15 hours of boring highway ahead of us. There's only one thing for it." I announce. "An insanely long game of `these are the Dave's I know'?" Jonas. "Several zillion rounds of The Alphabet game?" Kyle. "No. We have to have a Deep Conversation. We must share and grow!" "Or we could have a Rhyme Out." Kyle again. Rhyme outs are a family tradition. Or at least a me and Kyle tradition. They're exactly what they sound like. We played them endlessly on family trips when we were younger. When Celery started coming along he played with us. There's a long pause. "Bog." "Dog." "Smog." "Fog." "Hog." You get the general idea.
