Disclaimer: I don't know Jake Gyllenhaal, nor do I wish to imply anything regarding his social life. This work is entirely fiction. Chapter 39: About an hour later Jake finally awoke again, finding Chris still awake and in his arms. Moving his hands slightly so he was running his hands down Chris' ribcage, Jake finally whispered, "You're still here?" Chris snorted. "I'm not leaving you for one moment today." Moving again, he straddled Jake and kissed him passionately before grabbing both hands and dragging him out of the bed. "Shower time now, though." "Okay master." Jake grumbled playfully as he followed Chris' naked body towards the cold tiled floor of the bathroom. Letting go of Jake for a moment, Chris pushed the glass door of the shower open and flicked the water on. Turning back around, he couldn't find Jake. "Damn you!" Chris yelled as he padded his way back out to the bedroom to find him. As he turned the corner, Jake immediately pounced on him. "Gotcha!" Jake giggled as he pinned Chris against the wall and kissed him. Chris sighed and dragged him back into the bathroom, "You're naughty. Wasting water and hiding from your boyfriend." Jake nodded, "Yeah, I know." Finally he followed Chris into the cubicle and stepped under the warm water. Allowing his hair to get completely soaked, he was suddenly greeted by Chris, who wrapped his arms tightly around his chest and hugged him tightly. Resting his head on, Jake Chris drenched his hair in the water and continued to hug Jake. "I never want to let you go again." "Me neither." Jake whispered as he allowed their bodies to become drenched in more and more warm water. ********* ************* About an hour passed by the time the boys finally stumbled out of the bedroom, still hand in hand. "Morning!" Danny exclaimed as he saw Jake following closely behind Chris. "Long time no see!" Resting his butt against the dining table, Chris pulled Jake closer to him and rested his head against his stomach. "How are you doing today?" Danny sighed, "Okay I guess. I think I'm going to go home today." "Why's that?" Jake asked as he cupped his hands around Chris' ears and gently stroked them. They were cold to the touch, so he tried his hardest to warm them up. "I think it's time I faced reality back home I guess." Danny conceded, "You two need to be alone too." Chris shook his head, "You don't have to go." "Yeah, I do." Danny responded as he stood up quickly and stumbled towards the bedroom. Watching Danny trying to storm off was breaking Chris' heart. He wanted to chase after him and cheer him up, but as the same time, he didn't want to push Jake aside. Sighing, Chris pulled Jake in closer and kissed the grey wool fabric covering his stomach. Jake too felt hurt when Danny stormed off. After holding Chris for a while longer, he finally pushed back slightly and squatted slightly. "I'll see what's wrong with him." He then kissed Chris quickly before heading into the bedroom. Sinking his head down, Chris sighed and wished Danny could be happy. Unsure of what to do, he picked up Danny's empty plates and took them over to dishwasher. After unloading the previous day's contents, he placed the soiled dishes in and closed the door. "What the hell is happening in there?" He mumbled. Throwing his belongings into the suitcase Danny turned away as Jake entered the room. "Please, just leave me alone." "Not until you tell me what's happening?" Jake responded, moving closer to Danny and trying to place his hand on Danny's shoulder. Danny sighed and whispered, "I just miss being with Chris." "Oh." Jake replied. He didn't really know what to say. He felt sorry for Danny, but at the same time, there was no way he was letting Chris out of his life, he loved him too much. Instead, grabbing Danny's arm, he sat him down on the bed, "You'll find someone out there, you just know now to be careful." Bursting into tears, Danny rested his head on Jakes shoulder. "I guess seeing you at the hospital the other day, and then surprising him today, seeing how happy he was both times. I just wish I was the one to do that." Still unsure of how to tackle the issue, Jake continued to try to get Danny to think about other people. "You'll find someone, trust me." Thinking for a moment, he knew his sister knew many intelligent, handsome and kindhearted gay men. "If you're so intent on going back to New York today, go see Maggie, she will keep you company. Pete too, they will introduce you to a few nice guys....." "Maybe...." Danny sighed as he tried to stand up. However, Jake pulled him back down. "No, you will go see her." Jake demanded, "She will help you out. Just don't be sad because of Chris, it just makes him feel worse." Sighing again, Danny agreed. "I'll finish packing, and then I will apologize to him." "Okay then." Jake replied as he leaned over and carefully kissed Danny on the cheek. "You're too cute for your own good." Standing up, he gently patted him on the shoulder, "Come on." Danny smiled as he watched Jake head towards the door, "In a minute." Heading out the door, Jake padded back out into the living area, finding Chris nervously hovering around the sink. Walking over to him, he wrapped his arms around his waist and gently kissed Chris behind the ear. "Yuck!" Chris groaned as he squirmed from the feeling of Jakes new beard scratching him. Jake pulled back, "You just said yuck?" He sighed, "About me? I'm hurt!" Dropping the glass immediately, Chris turned, "No, it was just a weird feeling." Leaning in to passionately kiss Jake. "I love you baby." "Mmm I'm sure." Jake moaned. "Why did you say yuck?" Chris giggled, "Just not used to having the beard kissing me." "You'll get used to it." Jake whispered. Their private conversation was interrupted by the sound of the bedroom door closing. Turning around, he spotted Danny placing his bags on the ground. "I need to speak to Chris." Danny muttered shyly. Jake turned around and grasped Chris' hand. "Right, well, I'll get the rest of my stuff." Making his way to the door, Jake turned to look as Chris, who was leaning on the bench with his head lowered. Danny felt guilty as he saw Chris pouting. Walking up closer to him, he whispered, "I'm sorry Chris." "Daniel, don't be sorry." Chris explained. "I want you to be happy." Walking closer to Chris, Danny carefully placed his arms around Chris, "I just miss you." Chris sighed; he didn't know what to do. As much as he loved Danny, Jake was the only man in his life, and he didn't want to change that. He loved Jake too much to put him through that kind of hurt. "I miss you too, but we're just not meant to be together." "I know." Danny conceded. "I'm going back to New York today, but I needed to tell you that I still love you, especially after the last few days." Trapping Chris within his arms for a moment longer, he continued, "I just want to say I'm sorry for ever hurting you." Shifting slightly, Chris brought his lips to meet Danny's. "You never hurt me." Chris smiled as he gently ran his fingers behind Danny's ears, "But you need to move on. Alex was a jerk, and if anything like that ever happened again, I'd be there in a heartbeat to rescue you." Danny blushed and smiled simultaneously. "But I love Jake." Chris continued. "You two are the only two men I've really loved. But he's the only one for me now." Nodding in agreement, Danny kissed Chris once more, "I know, it's just a weak moment. Jake's determined to get me set up with someone nice, so we'll see I guess." Jake smiled as he stealthily listened into the conversation. He'd entered the apartment several minutes earlier; however, he wasn't heard by either of the boys. "You'll have fun, I'm sure." Danny smiled weakly, "I'll try." Finally, Jake announced his presence back in the apartment, "So, is everything okay now?" "Yeah, just saying our goodbyes." Danny replied mournfully. "It might be a while before I see you again." Chris' eyes widened, "Not that long I hope!" Suddenly there was a buzz on the intercom. Walking over to it, Jake acknowledged the driver before heading back over to Danny. "Don't be a stranger okay?" Danny immediately wrapped his arms around Jake and hugged him, "You're so lucky. Whatever you do, never let him go." "I'll try not to." Jake whispered as he glanced over at Chris. He smiled as he saw Chris trying to listen in on their conversation. Noticing a knock on the door, Chris shuffled his way over to open it. "Hey, he'll just be a minute." Almost immediately, Jake bearing luggage, and Danny, who had a small backpack, followed him. "Well that's everything I guess." Danny replied shyly. Wrapping his arms around Danny tightly, Chris kissed him on the cheek, "Cheer up. I will speak to you soon." Danny blushed as he looked over at Jake, he looked slightly anxious. "Goodbye Chris." He then followed the driver out the door with the luggage. As Danny and the driver headed down the stairs, Chris waved and slowly closed the door. Turning to see Jake pouting, he waddled his way over and kissed him firmly on the lips. "We're all alone now." "Yes," Jake smirked. "We are." Raising his eyebrows in quick succession, he continued to smirk at Chris. Pushing Jake hard against the wall, Chris slipped his tongue between the soft lips momentarily. "I think after this morning, I'm going to need some time to cool down, along with some ice down my pants." Jake laughed and agreed, "I know, it was amazing, but I mostly missed just being near you." Grasping Chris' hand, he used his free hand to grab the handle of his luggage before dragging both his man and his clothing into the bedroom. "Moving more of your stuff in are we?" Chris asked eagerly. "Sure," Jake shrugged. "This is home to me now." Chris' heart skipped a beat when he heard Jakes comment. He was ecstatic despite the fact he heard it from him before. Being completely swept away in the moment, he nearly missed what Jake had to say next. "I'm sure you've already moved most of my stuff in here anyway." Letting out a small giggle followed by a snort, Chris admitted, "Just some of your wardrobe." Looking down at the dog curled up on the pile of sweaters, he continued. "Oh, and Dogbert there." Knocking the suitcase over, Jake kneeled down in front of it and unzipped it. Popping the lid open, he searched around in the piles of shirts for something. "I got presents for you." "Really?" Chris exclaimed. He was pretty curious as to what Jake had bought for him. Sitting down on the floor next to Jake, he rested his head against Jakes warm back. "Well, it's not much." Jake admitted. Finally finding the bag, he was looking for he pulled it out. "Close your eyes." "Okay then." Chris replied as he complied. Shifting, Jake forced Chris' head off his back. "I managed to pull a few strings with some people in the music industry...." Chris smiled while keeping his eyes closed. "You got your tone deaf boyfriend a record contract?" "Oh quiet Mister Sarcasm." Jake replied cheekily before handing the bag over to Chris. "You can open your eyes now." Looking at the white paper bag, Chris reached inside and pulled out a small square container wrapped in a pearl effect paper. It was held together with a small blue bow. "What is it?" He asked as he examined it. Planting a kiss on Chris, Jake sat back down on the carpeted floor. "A sign of how much I love you I guess." Tugging at the bow, he allowed the ribbon to fall onto his knee before he carefully tore the paper off the container. True to Jake, whatever it was, it was disguised in yet another nondescript box. "You complete tease." Chris moaned as he pulled the lid of the box open to find a CD case inside. Picking it up, Chris examined it. "I know you love Roger Cicero." Jake admitted. "This technically isn't out for another week or so." "How did you?" Chris asked as he flipped the case over and examined the tracks. "I told you," Jake replied. "I had some friends hook me up. Check the inside cover." Opening the case, Chris gasped as he noticed what was inside. "It's signed?" Jake nodded, "Apparently it says, Chris thanks for listening to my music, your friend, Roger Cicero." Dropping the CD on the floor, Chris immediately pounced on Jake. "Oh my god, I love you so much!" Reciprocating the kiss, Jake sat Chris up, before pushing him back and continued to kiss him. "I love you more." ---40 soon--- Well, hope you liked that little followup to the last chapter.
