Chapter 25: Unable to hear Jake downstairs, Chris placed the bottles on the sideboard and slowly made his way up the staircase. Poking his head into Jakes bedroom, Chris smiled as he saw the bed was neat and tidy with a small box in the middle of the bed. Chris was dying to know what was in the box, but he knew Jake had it there for a reason, and he would find out what it was soon enough. As he had never been into any of the other rooms on the upper level, he felt it would be extremely rude to go searching through them in the hopes of finding Jake. He headed back down the stairs and yelled, "Where the hell are you?" Heading into the kitchen, he found various bags of groceries sitting on the counter. He spotted a carton of milk in one of the bags and quickly picked it up, shoving it into the refrigerator. He then noticed a hubbub coming from the deck outside, Chris made his way out the door, finding Jake dressed in only a towel and sunglasses. In one hand, he had his cell phone and in the other, he had a cigarette. "Okay, so it's sorted then?" Jake said as he looked over at Chris and puckered his lips briefly. Chris glared down at the smoldering cigarette in Jakes hand and folded his arms. He tried to look mad, however seeing Jakes tanned body dressed only in a white towel was causing a stirring in his pants. He took the time to look around Jakes backyard. As he hadn't actually seen it in the daylight it was completely new to him. There was a fairly moderate expanse of grass which was lined by large bushy trees. To the side of the deck was a small swimming pool, which was glistening in the afternoon light. Chris smiled as he noticed Boo Radley waddle over from under Jakes legs straight to Chris' shoes. Bending down, Chris played with the dog's ears while waiting for Jake to finish the phone call. "Aren't you a gorgeous thing...?" Chris muttered as he ruffled the hair on top of the Boo's head. "Awww thanks, I guess you are too." Jake replied as he crouched down in front of Chris. Chris looked up and smiled, "I didn't mean you, but you're even cuter, even if you do that that thing in your hand." He then pointed down at the cigarette. "Well," Jake replied. "I'm a little nervous, I was hoping you'd excuse me this once." He then leaned his toweled knee on the ground, placed his free hand behind Chris' ear and gently kissed him. "You look amazing." Jake commented. "Do I?" Chris responded with a nervous laugh. "You're a little nervous, I'm fucking terrified. What if she doesn't like me?" Chris then kissed Jake once more while gently prizing the cigarette from Jakes fingers. He then threw it onto the ground and stood up to extinguish it with his shoe. Also standing up, Jake grabbed Chris' hand and led him back indoors. "Why wouldn't she like you, she liked Kirsten and my other girlfriends?" Jake asked. Closing the door behind him, Chris explained his doubts, "But the thing about that was, she liked them because they were women, I am just worried that you're coming out to her by introducing me as your boyfriend." "Is that a bad thing?" Jake replied as he kissed Chris once more. "I think she'd be happy for me no matter what. Meeting you would be a bit of a relief to her." Chris looked at Jake with a puzzled expression, "I'm not following?" "I mean, I'm coming out to her, so to speak," Jake paused for a moment before continuing, "But by introducing the man that I love, it would reassure her. I mean, if I love you I'm not going to be sleeping with every guy in sight, right?" Chris blushed and nodded. "I guess you're right." He then smirked at Jake, "Since when were you labeling yourself as gay anyway?" Jake shrugged, "I guess I am with you. I hadn't really thought about it." Smiling at Jakes statement, Chris wrapped his arms around Jakes sun-warmed back, "So, what are you feeding us tonight, Nancy boy?" He then playfully yanked Jakes towel away from his body and threw it away. "That's for this morning you..." Undeterred, Jake continued in his duties wearing only his sunglasses on the top of his head. "I dunno, I was thinking some kind of seafood thing,..." "Jake," Chris interrupted as he admired Jakes naked body in the sunlight, "It makes me sick." Sticking his tongue out at Chris, Jake continued placing the groceries in various locations, "As I was saying. I was thinking that, then I remembered. I don't want my baby getting sick on me." Chris smiled and sidled up behind his lover. He quite liked the feeling of being completely clothed while Jake, his boyfriend was tending to his duties without a scrap of clothing. Wrapping his arms around Jakes waist, Chris kissed him behind the ear, "You're so sweet. What are you going to make then?" "Well....I think probably some Moroccan meatball thing, unless you're deathly allergic to that too?" Jake responded, freeing himself from Chris and continuing with his duties. Unable to take anymore of Jakes naked body, Chris inched his way towards the barstool and sat down, desperately trying to mask his erection. "What time do you think you will be back?" "I'm not sure; the plane gets in around 7, so maybe about 9?" Jake replied as he finished storing away the food. He then made his way towards the staircase. "You following me?" Standing up from the barstool, Chris grabbed the towel and followed Jake up the staircase towards the bedroom, "Did you want me to look after the dinner? Clean the house? Mow the lawns or something while you're gone?" Heading through the bedroom door, Jake quickly made his way over to the bed and shoved the box under the frame just as Chris entered the room. "Do whatever you want, just stay outta here till later okay?" Catching sight of Jake bending over under the bed caused Chris to smirk. "Okay, I will, as long as I can lie on the bed while you're in the shower." He then waited for Jake to stand up again and pad his way over to him. Jake quickly kissed him before turning to head to the shower, "I guess I can allow that, but no snooping, mmkay?" "Hrmmf" Chris replied as he sat down on the bed and pouted. He then thought about what Jake was doing earlier, "What were you sorting out on the phone?" Turning the shower on, Jake quickly dashed back into the bedroom and climbed onto Chris' body, "Promise you won't get mad?" Continuing to pout, Chris replied, "I dunno, I promise nothing." Jake kissed Chris on the cheek, "Rendition is being launched at the film festival in Toronto. I have to go." He then gauged Chris' reaction before continuing, "It's next week, but I will probably leave around...Thursday?" "I'll miss you." Chris replied Standing up again, Jake smiled, "I will miss you too." He then headed back into the bathroom. Moving his body up the bed, Chris rested his head on the crisp white pillow and turned to admire Jake, who was now under the stream of water. He smiled as he watched the water trickle down Jakes smooth back. A short time later, Jake emerged from the bathroom still dripping from the shower. He raced over towards the bed and kissed Chris quickly. Chris smiled and wiped the water-drops from his shirt, "What was that for?" "I missed you while I was in there." Jake replied with an innocent smile. He then padded his way back into the bathroom to finish toweling himself off. "I missed you too." Chris muttered as he sat up on the bed before standing to his feet. Slowly walking towards the bathroom, he caught Jake spitting the toothpaste into the sink before rinsing his mouth. Walking up behind Jake, Chris stuck his nose into Jakes wet hair and kissed the back of his neck, "Hooray." Chris whispered. Jake smirked at the feeling against the neck, "What's the hooray for?" "No more smokers breath," Chris commented as he kissed Jakes neck again. He then ran his fingers through Jakes wet hair, "What are you going to wear?" Breaking free of Chris once again, Jake gently brushed his lips against his boyfriends before leading him into the bedroom, "I dunno, help me find something." Following Jake into the expansive wardrobe, Chris admired the sheer amount of clothing. Most of it was organized fairly neatly, however there were a couple of piles of clothes on the floor along with a small stack of shoes near the doorway. Flicking through the various shirts hanging up, Jake finally pulled one out that seemed suitable, "What do you think?" Chris nodded, "I suppose, but you're going to make me feel overdressed now." He then looked down at the pants he was wearing. "I told you, you look fucking amazing." Jake replied as he pulled the shirt over his head. "I tell you what, if you still feel overdressed," He then grabbed a dark pair of jeans from the shelf, "Take these. I love seeing you in my clothes." "If you insist." Chris murmured as he took the jeans from Jakes hands. Kicking his shoes off and to the side, Chris continued by pulling his shirt out from his pants, he quickly unbuckled the belt, unzipped the zipper and allowed the pants to fall from his waist. Removing his pants, Chris looked up to see Jake smirking at him again, "What?" "Nothing." Jake replied, "Just checking you out." He then finished pulling his own jeans up and fastening them tight. He then turned his attention to finding shoes. In the meantime Chris had finished pulling the jeans on and had begun replacing his shoes. Task completed before Jake, Chris sidled his way over to Jake, who was sitting on the floor pulling his right shoe on. Kneeling down, Chris kissed Jake on the cheek, "You're so adorable tonight." Jake smiled and finished his task before turning his head to kiss Chris. "I think you're more adorable. Look at you, you're all nervous and being sweet 'n' innocent." He then pushed his back against the wall and pulled himself up. He then smirked at Chris before pushing him out the door, "You, out. Now. I need to do something." "What? Why?" Chris asked, not liking Jakes sudden mood change. Jake continued to smirk as he pushed his boyfriend out of the bedroom, "Go downstairs and be pretty. I'll be down in a minute." Defeated, Chris headed out the door, which promptly slammed shut behind him. Turning to see the door shut, Chris yelled, "Fucking rude!" before storming back down the staircase and into the living room. He knew Jake was up to something cute, but he thought he'd play dumb for the moment. Nervously heading towards the couch, Chris sat down on the edge and looked nervously out the window. He was shortly joined by Jakes pooch, who immediately jumped up and began licking Chris' face. "Argh," Chris moaned, "I'm going to smell like dog now." "Yeah, but you will still be cute." Jake commented, entering the room finally. He leaned down to kiss Chris before grasping his hand and leading him into the kitchen. Once in the kitchen, Jake indicated for Chris to pop up onto the counter top. Jumping up, Chris watched Jake tend to his culinary duties. He watched as Jake pulled the various pieces of meat from the containers and worked them into the various meatballs. "Is there anything I can do, or do I still have to sit here and look pretty?" Washing his hands under the water, Jake smirked at Chris' statement. "Stay there, I like cooking for you." He then cheekily wandered over, and grabbed Chris' head with his wet hands and cheekily kissed him before wandering back to his duties. "Fine," Chris groaned. "But I'm getting something to drink, is that okay, your Majesty?" He then jumped down off the counter and waddled towards the fridge. Jake smirked as he began attacking the vegetables with a knife, "I guess I can permit that. But only if you get something for me." Pulling the door open, Chris grabbed a bottle of milk and pulled it out closed the door; he then looked around, "Where are those things?" "What?" Jake asked as he stopped attacking the onion. He then wiped the tears away from his eyes. "You know the things that hold liquid." Chris replied sarcastically. Smiling at Chris' false stupidity, Jake looked over at him, "You mean a glass?" He then saw Chris nod in agreement. Jake pointed at the cupboard near the refrigerator, "Over there somewhere." "Danke," Chris replied as he grabbed two highball glasses, poured the milk in and replaced the bottle in the fridge door. He then waddled over and handed Jake the glass. "You're such a kid," Jake commented as he saw what Chris had poured. He took a sip before continuing with the cooking. Once everything was in the oven and slowly cooking, Jake looked over at the clock on the wall. "I suppose I better go now." He then looked over at Chris, who was looking extremely nervous, "I won't be long, I promise." "Okay, I will check on dinner I guess." Chris replied as he jumped off the counter. Walking over to Jake, he hugged him tight and kissed him on the cheek. Shifting his head so his lips would meet Chris' Jake passionately kissed him. "It will be fine, she will love you. I love you, so she ought to." "Fine, you win," Chris continued, "I won't run home while you're out." He then hugged Jake again before following him to the large door. As he closed the door, Chris then sighed before calmly walking back into the kitchen to check on the food. Noticing it was starting to bubble, Chris turned down the temperature slightly before continuing into the dining room. Snooping through the sideboard, he managed to find a few candles and other decorations for the dining table. Chris wanted to make a good impression with Naomi. Even thought it wasn't his house, he felt as if it were his duty to prepare the table in an immaculate manner. Lining up the candles, Chris lit them before heading into the kitchen to grab some utensils to place on the table with the napkins wine glasses. When he was finished, he admired his work and looked over at Jakes mutt, "Is this over the top? She's your relative, tell me." Deciding it was okay, Chris made sure the candles weren't going to ignite the house before nervously walking back into the kitchen. He checked the food again and then walked into the lounge at the front of the house. Bypassing the couch, Chris headed over towards the stereo and turned it on. Immediately he was greeted by some kind of R&B music he had never heard before. "Crap, that's loud!" Chris exclaimed as he looked for the volume control. Turning the volume down to a whisper, Chris then began looking through the endless expanse of CD's in Jakes collection. Many of the artists he had heard of, there were some he hadn't but, on the whole a bulk of the music was stuff he could tolerate. "What have we got here?" Chris muttered as something caught his attention. Pulling the case out, he noticed that it was Nina Simone. Finally, they had an artist that they both liked. Ejecting the CD, Chris put the disc into the Nina Simone case and replaced it with the disc he wanted planned to listen to. Once the disc began playing, Chris turned the volume up slightly and made his way to the couch. Resting his eyes, Chris made himself more comfortable on the large brown couch and awaited for inquisition to arrive. He was ecstatic that Jake wanted to introduce him to his mother, but at the same time, he was absolutely terrified. Meeting the parents was always the thing Chris felt the most nervous about, this time however; it was multiplied by the fact of both Jakes fame, as well as his previous heterosexuality. Occasionally getting up to check the dinner, he continued listening to the music and softly singing along nervously. Checking the oven once more, Chris made his way into the kitchen. As he finished closing the oven door, he heard a car pulling up in the driveway. Nervously, Chris froze against the counter and looked down at Boo Radley. "Oh Crap." *** ************ **************** ************** ************** ********** "What time is your flight tomorrow Mom?" Jake asked as he waited for the gate to finish opening. Naomi thought for a moment, "I believe it's around noon." She then looked lovingly at her son, who was unusually nervous. "Trying to get rid of me?" Jake smiled and shook his head, "Of course not. I was just curious." He then slowly accelerated up the driveway and towards the front of the house. As he turned the wheel slightly, the headlights illuminated the black Touareg parked under the tree. "Who else is here Jake?" Naomi asked, "Have you bought another car, or is that your girlfriends?" Jake switched off the engine and laughed nervously, "No Mom, I didn't buy a new car yet." He then opened the door and quickly ran around to open the door for his mother. "Can we get your bags later? I've got dinner going." "Of course, I love it when my boy cooks." Naomi replied as she slowly hopped out of the car. Leading his mother up the stairs with his hand around her shoulders, Jake nervously led her towards the large door. He was excited, but at the same time, he was sick from nerves. What if she didn't approve of him, let alone the man he loved so much. Still, he wanted to do this. Reaching the door, Jake whipped his keys out and unlocked the door. He then slowly turned the handle and pushed the door open. --Cliffhanger!!!!!!!!!!!!!--- Sorry, did it again. But it's a good one, innit? I promise I will show the next one up in a few days.
